Dave already had a good sized business selling his handmade mailboxes to local shops and customers however he wanted to take some of the hassle out of the equation and increase his customer base as well. Dave, on a very limited budget, wanted to start an online presence where he could sell his wares as well as introduce his products to potential wholesalers.

strategy:

Working on a shoestring budget posed quite a challenge when trying to not only build an identity, website, but give an online store as well.

It was decided that the most cost effective strategy was to take advantage of a Paypal based cart system until more funds were available in the future for a full blown custom store. The advantages in Paypal are that they handle the transactions for you as well as host all the secure code on their end limiting the cost of the website dramatically.

This gave room to be more custom on the rest of the website and concentrating on making the website have a good flow, high end custom design, and a very professional appearance. Also working on such a short budget produced no room for hiring a professional photographer so the products were all shot in house and processed by Visionology to save costs.

results:

Dave commented that he "never expected the website to look so good and function so well". The website has given Dave a good start to market his product to potential wholesalers and sell products directly to consumers at a minimal cost to himself. The website is also very flexible, leaving much room to grow with future demands.
